VELE D'EPOCA DI IMPERIA-TROFEO PRADA CLASSIC

The Vele d'Epoca di Imperia-Trofeo Prada rally ended with the final parade of the 106 vintage and classic yachts gathered in Imperia for the first "leg" of the Prada Challenge for Classic Yachts 2000 - Mediterranean circuit for classic and vintage yachts sponsored by Prada and coordinated by the Yacht Club de Monaco under the authority of the Comité International de la Méditerranée (C.I.M.).

Two races had been completed, after the cancellation on September 14, due to lack of wind. September 15, the 106 yachts had to cope with 20 knots plus winds, conditions which were forbidding for the Metric classes that were not able to race.

The yachts gathered in Imperia are now waiting for the wind to show up again for the start of the first liaison race Coupe d'Automne du Yacht Club Italiano valid for the Trophy Grimaldi-Coupe Prada which will take the participants from Imperia to Monaco. The yachts should arrive in Monaco tonight.

The Prada Challenge for Classic Yachts will then continue with the second liaison race, valid for the Trophy Grimaldi included in the Prada Challenge for Classic Yachts Trophy, between Monaco (19 September) and Cannes, where the yachts will gather for the Regatta Royales (23-30 September), a very well known event amongst enthusiasts of classical yachting. The fleet will then move on to the splendid provencial setting of Saint Tropez to compete in the last event of the circuit, Les Voiles de Saint Tropez (2-8 October).
