Youth training ship in the Bahamas looking for Captain & Mate. We are a youth training ship operating in the Bahamas and we are looking for a captain and mate for next season, June - August 2008, this is a renewable position for the right people. We take up to 20 children of ages from 14 years for 6 days every week for ten weeks in the summer. The present Captain and Mate, who have been running the program for the past six years, are looking to retire but will still be available for training.
Ideally you would have: Some qualification for Captain, i.e RYA, or US Coastguard, we are not interested in a list of qualifications, were not looking for a professor of sailing BS. For Mate no qualifications are necessary. Good at working with Kids, both sexes, between the ages of 14 and whatever. Good Mechanical skills, she's an old ship and continually in need of TLC.
Good teaching skills, to teach kids sailing theory and practical. Good organizing abilities, the job involves re provisioning the ship every week. Alcohol is not allowed on the ship at any time Drug free, of course, Drug testing is obligatory Non, or light smoker, smoking is allowed in restricted areas.
Ideally, but not essential, some experience of youth work, i.e. Boy Scout, Girl Guide, youth club. The Most important qualification for both positions is attitude. The actual working part of the job is from June through Aug, but living aboard in the Bahamas for the rest of the year is ok. Work permits are not necessary.
This is a paying job, salary negotiable. In order to avoid freebee seekers, Air fare to the Bahamas would be reimbursed at the end of the season. Accepting applications from either a couple, i.e. Captain and wife / girlfriend. Or singly, Captain, any age, either sex, Mate, any age, either sex.
All replies answered, but I really am over the top with work, so please, only serious enquiries.

Looking for Crew, The vessel is a Bavaria 40 ocean, year 2000, sited in Alicante (SE Spain) and it's prepared for this adventure and more! it belongs to my family. My name is Carlos, I'm a Spanish 29 years old male who is planning a middle-term cruise around Balearic islands, Corse and Sardinia next September-October, when I'm ending my degree in agriculture engineering. I'm Spanish "patrón de yate" (up to 20 m vessels, 60 nm). I speak Spanish, English, Portuguese, Catalan and basic french. I'm seeking for crew who has time to do such a thing and some experience is preferred. They would pay all costs, which means food, moorings and gas-oil (this is expected to be quite low... wind is free!).
This is not a charter, and I'm not a professional. I wouldn't receive any money from this, just food, please. I wouldn't participate either in moorings nor in gas-oil. I said I was student. The main idea is to find those adventure-lovers (4-5 people) and then we all get agree on routes, dates (never before September) and costs. Any suggestions will be welcome.
